Sweet and Sour Sauce

The best thing about making a big batch of meatballs and freezing some is that you can us them for a quick weekday dinner. This sauce, poured over some meatballs and rice, is scrumptious.

Sweet and Sour Sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup broth, chicken or veggie
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp salt
1 large clove garlic, minced
4 tbsp flour
2 tbsp cold water
1 medium tomato, cut into thin wedges
1 small green pepper, cut into one inch pieces
1 can crushed pineapple, drained

1. Heat sugar, broth, vinegar, soy sauce, salt, and garlic to boiling in two quart sauce pan over medium high heat, stirring occasionally.
2. Make a paste from flour and water; mix gradually into saucepan. Cook and stir until thickened.
3. Stir in tomato, pepper, and pineapple. Heat to boiling. Pour over meat or veg.

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. I am not excited. Last time I was there with a filling that had pulled out, the time before that for a crown, and the time before that for a root canal. I wonder what they will find tomorrow?

Thank you so much to Mia Xara for this award. Please make a trip to her lovely blog.
